Fred Sandback (b. 1943, Bronxville/NY; d. 2003, New York City) created spatial installations, conceptual art, and minimal art and was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Beginning in the 1960s, he installed "drawings in space" using yarn or elastic cord. Fred Sandback studied at the Yale School of Art and at Yale University.
