Anish Kapoor (b.1954, Mumbai / India) is a sculptor, based in London. In the 1980s he created sculptures from simple materials like color pigments, granite, marble, in the 1990s he made installations out of stainless steel, and until now he constructs monumental sculptures for which he often uses red wax and Vaseline. In 1990 he participated in the Venice Biennale and in 1992 at documenta 9 in Kassel. In 1991 he received the Turner Prize, and in 2017 the Genesis Prize, (Genesis Prize Foundation). Anish Kapoor studied at the Hornsey College of Art and at Chelsea School of Art and Design.
