Exhibition at Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki, Port. Warehouse B1
05.06.2018 - 23.09.2018
An exhibition co-produced by PCAI and the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki (CACT)
Curator: Syrago Tsiara
On World Environment Day, June 5, at 7:30pm, an innovative contemporary art project that bridges symbolically the Piraeus Port with that of Thessaloniki will be launched at PCAI Piraeus. During this prelude to the Thessaloniki CACT exhibition, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, PCAI Director and Executive Chairman of Polyeco Group, and Syrago Tsiara, Exhibition Curator and CACT Director, will talk about their collaboration and the concept behind the forthcoming show on resilience, sustainability and environmental awareness, whereas visitors will be able to enjoy video art works and installations from the PCAI Collection exhibited at the organisation’s headquarters.
Next stop will be the Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki with the Resilient Futures group exhibition opening on June 27. Tsiara states about the show: “How do artists visualize the future of the planet, and how do they critisize people’s relationships in regards to nature, economic systems, policies for development and natural resources exploitation and public space? The Contemporary Art Center of Thessaloniki (CACT) of the State Museum of Contemporary Art of Thessaloniki organizes an exhibition in collaboration with Polyeco Contemporary Art Initiative (PCAI) bringing together visual artists of different origins, who express themselves primarily through video art, and, directly or suggestively, refer to urban, environmental and social resilience and sustainability.” A bilingual catalogue (Greek-English) published by CACT Editions in collaboration with PCAI accompanies the show. The programme is supported by Polyeco Group, the Thessaloniki Port Authority S.A. and Posidonia Events.
