press release

World Class Boxing is pleased to announce an exhibition of paintings by Dutch painter Carla Klein. Klein paints using her own photography from her travels as the primary source of imagery; Klein's compositions blur the line between abstraction and representation, between the worlds of reality and fiction. She says the photograph from which she paints captures an indescribable "special quality." Kline prints her own photographs in the darkroom and changes the colors while processing to produce the desired image. Her high- contrast palette of black, blue, gray and white create a dramatic and serene painting. Klein's compositions contain deep perspective, and possess a single architectural element or series of abstracted forms. Kline paints natural and manmade environments that are "inhabited on a transitory, rather than on a permanent basis, spaces that provide a prolonged experience." These landscapes, lacking any human presence embody the perceived freedom of open spaces.

The exhibition opens November 8, 2008 7-10pm and Monday- Friday 11-5pm. For more information please contact: 305 438 9908 or World Class Boxing is located at 170 NW 23rd Street, Miami FL 33127.
