Yhteyksiä - Common Ground

Next weekend, in the unique historical Unesco heritage town Rauma opens a contemporary art show Yhteyksiä - Common Ground. The exhibition, focusing on the newest trends of community art, celebrates the Raumars Artist-In-Residence Programme 10 years anniversary and brings together 25 artists from 17 countries.

All the artists at the exhibition have a prior association with Rauma. Since 1997 Raumars, an international Artist-in-Residence Programme, has been inviting artists to carry out community art projects with local people. Yhteyksiä – Common Ground brings together group of Raumars’ artists of the past 10 years.

The exhibition presents work by: Rachel Bacon (USA/Holland) - Kostana Banovic (Yugoslavia/Holland) - Ky-Yut Chan (China/Canada) - Pauline Curnier Jardin (France) - Inga Darguzyte (Lithuania) - Kathy Desmond (USA) - Liza Grobler & Jeanne Hoffman (South Africa) - Christine Hooper (Great Britain/France) - Shoji Kato (Japan/USA/Finland) - Jay Koh (Singapore) & Chu Chu Yuan (Malaysia) - Kit Malo (Canada) - Agenor Martí (Cuba/Ecuador) - Hedwig Rogge (Germany) - Catriona Shaw (Great Britain/Germany) - Hanni Stolker (Holland) - Petra Valentova (Czech Republic/USA). Students from Turku Art Academy - Suvi Aarnio, Pia Bartsch, Eva Gorbovski, Annukka Majamäki, Marjukka Nissi, Maria Nordbäck and Kirsti Uuttu - show their works at the Yard House Studio.

The RauMARS opening festival weekend is a multi-cultural and interactive event that takes place free of charge in various spots around the town and includes the semi-finals of the Afrikan Tähti board game’s World Championships.
