William Kentridge: Five Themes

William Kentridge: Five Themes, a comprehensive survey of this mesmerizing contemporary South African artist’s oeuvre, will be on view at the Norton Museum of Art from November 7, 2009 through January 17, 2010. Co-organized by SFMOMA and the Norton Museum of Art, the exhibition gathers nearly 75 works in a variety of media—including animated films, drawings, prints, theater models, sculptures, and books—and includes a variety of projects completed since 2000—some of which have never before been on view in the United States. William Kentridge: Five Themes was curated by Mark Rosenthal in close collaboration with the artist, and is structured around five primary themes that have engaged Kentridge over the course of his career.
