press release

Journey back to eighteen-century London with us. A time when satire thrived. This exhibition turns back time to focus on one of the best and most famous pictorial satirists, William Hogarth (1697–1764). In his prints Hogarth invented a new kind of narrative sequential art – a kind of comic-strip format. In his dramatic pictures, teeming with detail, he addressed contemporary issues: prostitution, poverty, violence, drunkenness, deceit, self-staging and desire.
