Thomas Lail

The site-specific installation Sanctuary Intersect (in Slovak translation Proti vetru) is the first European project of New York based artist Thomas Lail (1967). The temporary installation Sanctuary Intersect references the idea of the traditional Jewish structure called a sukkah to echo the architectural scale of the main aisle rotated to different angles. The resulting installation screens and sub-divides the space, cutting across the main aisle of the synagogue from either side, with fluorescent lights hovering in the newly created spaces.
