press release

This latest exhibition by the Centre of Attention is the summation of many months of thorough investigation and submersion in the primary and secondary sources. We conducted in-depth interviews with friends, family and acquaintances; went undercover to speak to erstwhile confidantes and former close personal aides of Susan Gescheidle.

This expose of a Chicago gallerist and art dealer results in an installation as a portrait, a psychological profile made physical.

If truth is only to be had by laying together many varieties of error, we find ourselves exposing the truth at the same time as we expose ourselves. -the Centre of Attention, 2006

See the truth about Susan Gescheidle, an installation including works from Franko B, Jessica Brouder, Robert Heinecken, House of O'Dwyer, Karin Kihlberg, Steve Reinke, Cath Rive, Mariah Robertson, and Ken Weaver. The opening reception is Friday, September 8th , from 6-9 pm. There will be a performance by the Centre of Attention during the opening. Also, there will be a curatorial discussion from 4-5 pm preceding the opening.

The Centre of Attention is Pierre Coinde and Gary O'Dwyer. Their experimental approach stems from an ongoing enquiry into the phenomenon of art production, presentation, consumption and heritage-ization. Recent exhibitions include Swansong (51st Venice Biennale, Mercer Union, Schauspielhaus Zurich, Kunstlerhaus Mousonturm Frankfurt); Petit Pois (various London venues including Tate Modern), Giv(e)way (30th annual, 6th Biennial Exhibition of Visual + Art, Limerick); On Demand (London). Forthcoming exhibitions at Istanbul Modern and Kunsthaus Graz.
