press release

The exhibition The Magic of Lapland represents a major project by Ateneum in which the history of Finnish art from the 1800s to the present is explored by means of a single familiar and recognisable theme: the portrayal of Lapland. The northern colours and light are present in these works of art, created by such artists as Gabriel Engberg, Juho Kyyhkynen, Einari Junttila, Reidar Särestöniemi, Kalervo Palsa, Marja Vuorelainen, Jussi Niva and Outi Pieski.

The exhibition is curated by Ateneum's director Maija Tanninen-Mattila. Exhibition design is by architects Mikko Heikkinen and Markku Komonen.
