Shirin Neshat. Selections provides a review of the extraordinary career of this Iranian artist from the work undertaken during the last ten years. Some 20 photographs among her most representative and 6 video installations among the 11 she produced will trace the development of her career and will offer a unique opportunity to analyze her interests and concerns. Far from clarifying the paradoxical situation which is debated on in her work, between what spectators from the West have frequently interpreted as exotic or Orientalist representations, and what spectators from Islamic countries have noted as stereotypes, this retrospective, produced and organized for MUSAC, makes engages with this ambiguity to illuminate the complex dynamic construction between these two cultural origins which unfolds in all creations of Shirin Neshat. This would definitely be the focus of attention of Shirin Neshat. Selections, curated by Octavio Zaya who, on countless occasions, has reflected on the work of artist from the outset of her career
