Richard Deacon. On the Other Side

Speaking at the opening ceremony, director of the Heydar Aliyev Center Anar Alakbarov expressed his deep gratitude to sculptor Richard Deacon and vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva. “It is very gratifying that Heydar Aliyev Center has already become a favorite place for our visitors. We have organized a number of international exhibitions and events here. Amongst them, we can name Tony Cragg, Bernard Buffet, Cradle to Cosmos, Classis Car, Grace Kelly: princess and style icon and many others organized here since 2014. This exhibition by Richard Deacon is one of the most important exhibitions for us. Over ten years, it has been exhibited in different countries of the world and finally now it is in our beloved Baku,” said Anar Alakbarov.

It’s noteworthy that Richard Deacon got an opportunity to visit Azerbaijan pavilion at Venice Biennale in 2013 and received an invitation to conduct an exhibition in Baku. The British sculptor expressed his pleasure to hold the exhibition in Baku and said he hoped that the artworks would create a good impression on the visitors.

The exhibition presents thirty-nine art works made from wood, metal, and ceramics. The exhibition will last until July 15, 2016.
