Per Kirkeby: Figur

Per Kirkeby. Figure focuses on one of the returning challenges in the Danish pictorial artist Per Kirkeby’s artistic work: His use of the figure as an organizing, known picture element. For example he uses the silhouette, the wood log or the crystal as structural or figurative base element in the apparently chaotic canvasses.

The exhibition emphasizes the 1980s, but also looks back at the experimenting 1960s and 1970s, just as the sculpture commands a central place in the presentation.

In connection with the exhibition, a lavishly illustrated catalogues is published.

The exhibition is realised in collaboration with Kunsthalle Kiel and Henie Onstad Kunstsenter in Oslo and has received generous support from OAK Foundation Denmark and Fyns Stiftstidende.
