press release

Paula Mueller (°1977 Trier, Germany, lives and works in Geneva) is a German artist whose polymorphous works consider the visible and invisible aspects of drawing and painting. Guided by the image itself, she tries to give it the most fitting form, reducing it to the mere point of its existence. "A drawing is inherently unable to lie. It shows its own process of synthesis."

She tells us stories with fictitious characters, situations and landscapes; several in a detailed and elaborated manner and some in a few but precise lines. In "So far, honey", her second solo exhibition at Tim Van Laere Gallery, she will show works on paper and works on canvas, combinational frames and works on glass in frames, installed on a huge wall drawing. She will open up the dialogue between her works, the room and the spectator and will add another dimension to the space.

Each image bears a direct relationship to the thing it refers to, but at the same time they all take over and display Muellers' image world. "She quotes, comments on and combines her own image worlds, she repeats some of them and cross-links them with each other. Again and again she links her works in the way she puts them up, she directly glues or draws things on the wall and integrates smaller works in her wall drawings.", wrote Michael Pohl.
