Moyna Flannigan paints images of fictional characters, casting a critical eye on the effects of power on personal, cultural and political identity. Often dark and humorous, her work is created from a multitude of sources, which are passed through the filter of her memory and vivid imagination. Her show at GoMA draws on the story of Adam and Eve, in particular the figure of Eve as an original model of Woman, to reflect an underlying conflict between individualism and conformity.
