American contemporary artist Mike Bidlo (b.1953) first entered upon the New York art scene in the beginning of the 1980s. He belongs to the generation of appropriation artists who re-use well-known ideas, pictures and objects and place them in a new context. His artistic concept is to copy modernistic masterpieces from the 20th century, both paintings and sculptures of artists such as Picasso, Pollock, Warhol and others. It is the first time Mike Bidlo exhibits in Norway and he does so with concurrent retrospective exhibitions at the Astrup Fearnley Museum and Bergen Art Museum.
