Looking for Changes - Art Trail across Hamburg

"Aussicht auf Veränderungen / Looking for Changes" is an art trail across Hamburg that follows Line 3 of the suburban railway, connecting the north of the city to the south. It invites both residents and visitors to Hamburg to embark on extended journeys into unknown suburbs and foreign neighbourhoods.

Attentiveness in everyday city life is a well-balanced combination of alertness and routine: The city dweller moves carefully through the city, following familiar routes, blending into the traffic flow, manoeuvring as efficiently as possible through crowds, streaming in all forms of transport, thus making his or her way to any given destination. Seldom do these city dwellers let their eyes or ears wander through the cityscape without reason.

"Aussicht auf Veränderungen / Looking for Changes" encourages just this kind of rambling and unexpected encounters with the city. During the last three months, contemporary artists and residents of all ages, from all over Hamburg, have reflected on their urban lives and changes within the city and developed artworks to express their experiences, secrets, expectations and desires. The resulting installations, sculptures, video projections, actions and performances can be explored from 9th September to 3rd October 2010 near the train stops Altona, Landungsbrücken, Veddel, Wilhelmsburg and Harburg.
