Humane would aptly describe Leon Golub's preoccupation with the sociopolitical forces that impact the human condition. A painter who began his career in Chicago during the post-war years, Golub has lived most of his life in New York with his wife, Nancy Spero. This retrospective, a survey of Golub's career from 1949 to 1999, was undertaken in collaboration with the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Dublin. At the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, the exhibition was organized by Curator Douglas Dreishpoon.
