press release

This March Bernard Jacobson Gallery is proud to present an exhibition of paintings and works on paper by Lee Krasner.

This will be the first commercial exhibition of Krasner?s work in London for over 20 years. The show will feature works spanning a 40-year period, including large canvases and collaged works on paper.

Lee Krasner was one of the forerunners in the Abstract Expressionist movement. For many years she was known primarily as the wife and artistic follower of Jackson Pollock. While Krasner was influenced by Pollock's work, she in fact, influenced his paintings in turn. Krasner was a leading figure in the New York School, with ongoing artistic dialogue between artists and critics alike; her work incorporates an intellectual curiosity that places her among the greats like de Kooning and Newman.

The work of Lee Krasner is included in many of America?s top museum collections as well as the Tate Gallery and a number of European museums.

In association with Robert Miller Gallery, New York.
