press release

The Lithuanian-American artist Jonas Mekas is a key figure of post-war avant-garde cinema. The exhibition provides an overview of his creative endeavours from the 1950s to today via films, photos, poems, installations, and a video diary. The Fluxus Wall is made up of objects from the influential Fluxus movement, which revolved around the Lithuanian artist, George Maciunas, a kindred spirit of Mekas.

CINEMATEK organizes a retrospective of Jonas Mekas’s films (17 >27.10) with a special evening in the presence of the artist himself (16.10) and the projection of Outtakes from the life of a happy man.
