DUVE Berlin is proud to present We Are All We Have, Jens Einhorn’s first solo exhibition at the gallery.

Jens Einhorn’s new body of work, presented in Berlin for the first time, consists of a series of white, monochromatic paintings. Lengths of blue rope, subtly placed onto the surface of each of the canvases, act as a Leitfaden - a running thread - through which the works are simultaneously differentiated and tied together as a whole. Alternately evoking constraint and movement, they attempt to redefine and renavigate the space of the canvas, thereby mimicking the infinite possibilities of our own movement within space.

Einhorn brings a sense of urban destruction to his pared down paintings. While his previous work has used a variety of coloured pigments, in this series he has developed a new technique that relies more heavily on textural variation, while also revealing the visceral effort of bodily exertion. In these works - whose titles reference lyrics ranging from 90s punk bands to contemporary hip-hop - the artist indicates a pivotal era of change, where he and those around him try to imagine another future, far from all they have ever known.

Jens Einhorn was born in 1980 in Leisnig, DE. After studying at the Leipzig Art Academy with Astrid Klein, Einhorn enrolled at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where he obtained his Meisterschuler with Tal R. Recent solo exhibitions include Too Much Future at Bruch & Dallas (Cologne, DE) and Electric Eyes at Luce Gallery (Turin, IT). Einhorn has taken part in group exhibitions at Contemporary Fine Arts (Berlin, DE), Museo Nazionale di Capodimonte (Naples, IT), Potemka Contemporary Art (Leipzig DE), C. Rockefeller Center for the Contemporary Arts (Dresden DE) and Galerie Kleindienst (Leipzig DE), amongst others. He lives and works in Berlin.

„Ich hatte den Verdacht, dass wir überhaupt nicht vorangekommen waren mit unseren Landstraßen und Feldwegen. Aber es war auch ziemlich egal. Mir zumindest. Die Autobahn führte auch schon längst nicht mehr nach Süden, und irgendwann bogen wir ab und fuhren wieder Landstraßen und der Sonne nach...“
