press release

In the framework of XII International Symposium on Electronic Arts ISEA 2004 there will be a series of evens presenting the artistic possibilities within new technologies. The event is simultaneously taking place in Kiasma (Helsinki), Moderna Museet (Stockholm) and Rotermann Salt Storage (Tallinn). The program of "Wearable Technologies" is based on collaborations of the widest circles of art world with new technologies. Our experiences demonstrate how any minor changes in computing industries or any materials released on the market goes into creative re-working in fashion and textile competing by the user activity with the main target audience of innovations in the military industry. The unforeseeable consuming potentials are inspiring us to discuss on the roles of new technologies integrating with everyday life, their functions and experiences they are offering. The exhibition brings creative media on the streets, connects club culture with usual channels for mediating art, travels into the future and manifests its ability to express ecological and social awareness. The answers to the questions are situated quite far from technologies and are connected to the notions of pleasure, voyeurism, easy access, value statements and outbursts of fantasy. The organization committee collaborating with Estonian Art Academy, Contemporary Art Centre and Estonian Concert organizes ISEA 2004 with its exhibition and symposium. Pressetext
