Graciela Iturbide, Heliotropo 37

The Fondation Cartier is presenting Heliotropo 37, the first large exhibition in France devoted to the body of work of Mexican photographer Graciela Iturbide, spanning the 1970s to the present day.
For this veritable exhibition-portrait, the artist welcomed us into her studio at 37 Calle Heliotropo in Mexico City, a masterpiece by the architect Mauricio Rocha, who also designed the exhibition scenography. Heliotropo 37 brings together over 200 images, from her most iconic photographs to her more recent production, as well as a color series created especially for the exhibition.

To celebrate the opening of this exhibition-portrait, Graciela Iturbide will chat with Guatemalan writer Eduardo Halfon, author of Mourning and more recently Canción, as well as a new short story, The Lake, specially penned for the exhibition catalog. Alexis Fabry, general curator of the exhibition Heliotropo 37, will moderate.

The catalogue published on the occasion of the exhibition Graciela Iturbide, Heliotropo 37 provides a veritable exploration of the photographer’s work and private universe. It brings together all of the photographs on display at the Fondation Cartier, as well as an interview with the photographer by French essayist Fabienne Bradu, an original short story by Guatemalan author Eduardo Halfon, and a photo essay featuring Iturbide’s studio by Mexican photographer Pablo López Luz.
