Fairy Tales Forever

Focusing on the fairy tale as a theme, it is a pleasure for ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum to present one of the museum’s largest international exhibitions so far.

With new works, presented through various different medias (photography, video, installation, painting, drawing and sculpture) 25 contemporary artists from China, Japan, Brazil, South Africa, USA and Europe pay homage to H. C. Andersen, his life, his fantastic works of poetry and the universal powers of magic.

The exhibition has been made possible by: H.C. Andersen 2005 Foundation, The Kingdom of Denmark & the Bikuben Foundation

In connection to the exhibition, we extraordinarily present 72 silk prints from 1987 by the American pop artist Andy Warhol, showing H.C. Andersen and three of his paper cuts.

In the Junior Gallery a group of illustrators of children’s books will exhibit. Based on the fairy tales of H.C. Andersen, special activities will take place during the Aarhus Festival week (26th of August – 4th of September 2005).

The exhibitions open in connection with the Aarhus Festival on the 26th of August and will be on show until the 30th of December 2005.
