Emerging Artists

The exhibition emerged as a result of researching and following of new appearances on the artistic scene in Rijeka. It presents the works of nine younger authors close to one another in terms of generations, who have been perceived as emerging (who are rising, coming forth to the surface of Croatia's map of visual arts) since their activities demonstrate ground-breaking approaches in contemporary artistic practice. We see their appearance in such a large number as a phenomenon of the Rijeka scene, which considering the proportion in the number of authors and quality of works, has not been encountered here for quite a long time. The exhibition presents the computer processed photographs and sculpture-objects of Nikola Ukic, the ambient video installations of David Maljkovic, the site-specific interventions of Igor Eskinja, the pictures and garments of Damir Stojnic and screensaver projections (Stojnic coauthoring with Edvin Sabanovic), video installations of Nemanja Cvijanovic, ambient objects of Tomislav Curkovic, ambient installation and CD-ROM project of Dunja Sablic, ready-made objects of Dejan Kljun, and the documentation of Melinda Kostelac’s action WWW.ATER.IRANJE performed at the urban location in Franjo Racki Street 46. The greater number of the works are of recent production by the authors, targeted precisely for this exhibition, and materialized through the support of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary art in Rijeka.
