Deitch Projects presented Artists and Prostitutes 1985-2005, a retrospective by David LaChapelle, one of the most innovative and creative photographers working today. He has photographed some of the biggest celebrities and personalities in the worlds of music, entertainment, fashion and art. His work has been featured on numerous magazine covers around the world. In addition to still photography, LaChapelle has directed music videos for pop music stars such as Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Whitney Houston and numerous others.

Artists & Prostitutes 1985-2005 showcased 3 DLP, UXGA resolution digital projectors (15 feet x 15 feet) featuring a collection of images taken throughout LaChapelle's illustrious career. To add to the excitement, LaChapelle also installed a life-sized set in the gallery allowing visitors to freely experience a slice of “LaChapelle's world”.

Several exciting events took place on-set throughout the duration of the installation. A photo shoot for Interview Magazine featured some of the most interesting faces in contemporary art and pop culture including Pamela Anderson, Amanda Lepore and Kehinde Wiley. Artists and Prostitutes 1985-2005, was also the location for the after-party celebration of David LaChapelle's new film "Rize" that was screened at the 4th Annual Tribeca Film Festival. The young stars of the film enlivened the gallery with their animated demonstrations of Krump Dancing.
