Cory Arcangel

Brändström & Stene are pleased to announce the second solo show with Cory Arcangel, Get back to me in a couple of years. Arcangel, who graduated from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music with a degree in Technology in Music and Related Arts, came to the art world through a number of internet based activities. These, in turn, lead to invitations from institutions for lectures and demonstrations, a performative aspect which naturally called for the creation of digital environments. Trained as a classical guitarist, Arcangel was taught to master an instrument before putting it to creative use. He has combined this, with his deep knowledge of software and programming languages, and works on old equipment in favour of working on affordable “trash”, whose evolutionary cycle has come and gone. His work has been displayed at Guggenheim Museum, New York, The Whitney Museum of American Art, New York and MoMA amongst others (MoMA just recently made a purchase ). Welcome!
