press release

Rubens may have had others execute his prints, yet the influence he exercised on the reproduction process of his work by printers should not be underestimated. Scores of designs by Rubens and prints corrected by his own hand show how he did not content himself merely with a ‘reasonable’ reproduction. He had definite, fundamental and original views about the role of contours, lines, hatching and volumes in graphic work.

The KMSKA, which is organising this exhibition in co-operation with the Musée du Québec, has a collection of several hundred prints by Rubens. Pressetext
