COMMA 05 / 06: Dan Perjovschi and Jadranka Kosorcic

COMMA focuses entirely on the commissioning of new work providing exceptional opportunities for artists to experiment and expand their practice in relation to the particular nature of Bloomberg SPACE.

Twenty of today's most outstanding established and emerging international artists have been invited to create new work, installations and architectural interventions in a fast paced succession of exhibitions created in response to and seen for the first time at Bloomberg SPACE.

The new programme continues Bloomberg SPACE's reputation of presenting the unknown alongside the very well known drawing on a group of artists from across the globe. The programme spans a wide range of media – during the year painting, sculpture, drawing, installation, performance and film are all featured.

COMMA 05 Dan Perjovschi For COMMA Dan Perjovschi has turned the front gallery at Bloomberg SPACE into a giant sketchbook, immersing viewers in a sea of information. Atypically Perjovschi has chosen to work only on the huge glass frontage of the gallery leaving the rest of the gallery as a blank page. The London headquarters of Bloomberg LP is distinctive both for its gallery's towering glass frontage and for Bloomberg's 24/7 news which is generated from within. Perjovschi has focused on both of these unique characteristics scaling up his portfolio of drawings that comment on current political, social and cultural issues and applying them on to both sides of the glass. The result is a direct interface between gallery and street that draws together viewers from both arenas.

COMMA 06 Jadranka Kosorcic Jadranka Kosorcic has been resident within Bloomberg Headquarters for a month drawing members of staff. The resulting selection of strong, expressionist portraits creates a glimpse into the internal world of the building and those that animate it. The project is an extension of Kosorcic's 'Blind Date' in which she advertises or selects sitters with whom she anticipates she can develop some sort of mental and physical connection. The results are stunning yet executed through the simplest of means – her fine, hard, singular line portraits effortlessly capture that particular something about each subject.

About Bloomberg SPACE Bloomberg SPACE is a gallery based at Bloomberg's European headquarters in London and is dedicated to commissioning and exhibiting contemporary art. It welcomes visitors six days a week and admission is free.
