The Joan Miró Foundation, in collaboration with KRTU at the Catalan Department of Culture, is presenting an exhibition of the work of the Valencian musician Carles Santos.

Eclectic and unclassifiable, original and provocative, Carles Santos (Vinaròs, 1940) has achieved worldwide acclaim as a composer and player and can be considered an all-round artist. He started his career as a pianist, and everything he has done since has been based on his attachment to the piano and his personality as a player. Later on he became involved in other musical disciplines such as composition and conducting. The sum of these facets, together with the experience and ideas accumulated in other fields such as the cinema, the theatre and the visual arts, has resulted in a wide-ranging output that has brought him recognition by both the public and the critics for the originality of his proposals and their rigorous execution.

In addition to his theatrical and musical work, the affinity with the visual arts that is so apparent in the staging of his shows has resulted in exhibitions of photographs and poems, many of them inspired by the themes of these works.

Carles Santos has been connected with the Joan Miró Foundation since its beginnings, through the Grup Instrumental Català, and the result of this relationship has been a series of shows that have included the celebrations for the Foundation's tenth anniversary and the Promenade Concert that he composed for the opening of the centenary exhibition “Joan Miró 1893-1983”.

It is for all these reasons that the Foundation is now putting on this exhibition that promises to offer the usual surprises associated with Carles Santos. It will certainly not disappoint his followers and it will be an opportunity for his lesser known works to reach a wider public.
