Artists Gifts

This exhibition focuses on the significant history of gifts from artists to MOCA’s permanent collection—including major donations by artists of their own works and/or of works by other artists drawn from their personal collections. Artists’ Gifts draws upon gifts made by artists such as John Baldessari, Judy Fiskin, Sam Francis, Robert Gober, Donald Judd, Mike Kelley, Ed Moses, Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen, Raymond Pettibon, James Welling, Christopher Wool, and Max Yavno, among many others. These works collectively showcase one of the numerous and meaningful ways that the local, national, and international artists’ community has supported and enriched the museum since its inception. This exhibition is organized by MOCA Senior Curator Ann Goldstein.
