press release

An urbane newcomer has joined the constellation of art fairs illuminating Miami from December 5 to 9, 2007.

Art Miami--second in size only to Art Basel Miami Beach--debuts in the Wynwood Art District, as an international stage bringing a bevy of fresh faces to the city, including a select group of art dealers who are leading, long-time experts in their areas of specialization.

The new Art Miami has sprung from the roots of a fair of the same name, which anchored the January art calendar here for nearly two decades. 99 galleries will participate. From New York City alone come Alexander Gray Associates, Anna Kustera, Barry Friedman Ltd, Betty Cuningham Gallery, Danese, Laurence Miller Gallery, Leslie Tonkonow Artworks + Projects, Senior & Shopmaker Gallery, and Yossi Milo Gallery, among others.

Gallery Paule Anglim, Hackett-Freedman Gallery, and Haines Gallery will travel from San Francisco and Rosamund Felsen Gallery and Rose Gallery from Los Angeles. Wetterling Gallery from Stockholm and Xin Dong Cheng Gallery from Beijing are two of a strong contingent of European and Asian participants, and the work of important Latin artists will be featured by galleries based in Mexico and Venezuela as well as the U.S.

Art Miami promises to be a user-friendly show, geared to seasoned art fair experts as well as to those who may be new to serious collecting. Lounge spaces throughout the fair are designed by Miami's newest showroom, Open Doors, to encourage conversation and pause, while a quality on-site dining experience will be offered at Palate by Touch Catering, created exclusively for Art Miami.

Art Advisor Program The Art Miami Advisor Program will feature a select group of top art consultants, experts in a range of disciplines, who will offer their services to VIP guests at the fair. The program is coordinated by Stacey Gershon, an independent Art Advisor who for 25 years was Curator of the JP Morgan Chase Art Collection and the former president of the International Association of Professional art Advisors.

Travel + Lodging Plenty of hotel rooms are available to Miami visitors. Check our website at http://www.art-miami.com for details in the Visitor Info tab.

Worldwide private jet charter provider Prive Jets, a sponsor of Art Miami, is available to arrange on demand charter services for VIP guests, as well as hourly cards and flexible programs.

Art Miami is the only art fair in Miami to provide concierge service for its visitors. The firm Belavie will help visitors find local transportation, choose restaurants, make reservations for dining and nightlife activities, book meeting spaces, find spas and salons, arrange parties in gallery booths and manage printing jobs.

The Venue The 100,000 sq. ft. fair will occupy a spectacular tented structure stationed at the center of the week's activity: just blocks from the major satellite fairs, the Rubell Family Collection, MOCA at Goldman Warehouse, The Margulies Collection at the Warehouse, CIFO (Cisneros Fontanals Art Foundation), galleries, and the Miami Design District.
