Focus Turkey: An Emerging Market to Be Discovered One of the main attractions will be the FOCUS TURKEY, curated by Vasif Kortun, director of research and programmes at the institution SALT Istanbul who already curated the United Arab Emirates Pavilion and the Turkish Pavilion for the Venice Biennial in 2011 and 2007. Situated between Asia and Europe, Turkey has experienced a boom with new art galleries opening, public and private museums, art fairs, auction houses and institutions dedicated to visual arts in the past decade. Since 2000, when the Turkish art market had a global turnover of nearly 10 million euros, the figure has risen to over 30 million euros by 2008, according to figures published by the consultancy ArtTactic in its latest report on the country. For ARCOmadrid 2013, Vasif Kortun selected 10 Turkish galleries: DIRIMART, ELIPSIS, MACKA SANAT GALERISI, MANA, NEV ISTANBUL, NON, PILOT, RAMPA, RODEO and X-IST, all based in Istanbul.

Fresh look at Latin American Art Traditionally, Latin America has a special presence at ARCOmadrid. SOLO PROJECTS: FOCUS LATIN AMERICA showcases 23 art projects selected by an international team of curators. The MEXICAN SELECTION comprises Iván Puig (Arróniz, Mexico City), Ariel Orozco (Myto Galería), Mariana Castillo Deball, represented by the German gallery Wien Lukatsch; and Eduardo Abaroa, whose works will be shown at the stand of KURIMANZUTTO, the prestigious Mexican gallery that is returning to ARCOmadrid this year. The five curators who selected the projects using their inside knowledge and various perspectives on the current Latin American art scene are: Inti Guerrero, associate artistic director of TEOR/éTica (Costa Rica); Catalina Lozano, independent curator and co-founder of de_sitio (Mexico); Gabriel Pérez- ‐‑Barreiro, director of the Cisneros Foundation / Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection, (New York and Caracas); Alexia Tala, independent curator (Chile); and Cristiana Tejo, independent curator (Brazil).

Extended Collector and Professional Programme The international collectors' programme will invite 250 active collectors - more than in the previous years. ARCOmadrid has also invited directors and curators of American museums. In addition, the Second Meeting of European and Latin American Museums will be held. One of the most important new features of ARCOmadrid will be the launch of COLLECT ONLINE, an online platform, with the collaboration of Paddle 8, which will offer for sale a selection of works from February 1st to 17th, 2013. The Fair has also launched ARCO BLOGGERS (www.arcobloggers.com), an online participatory publishing experiment.
