Shigeyuki Kihara

Yuki Kihara (1975 born in Upolu, Independent State of Samoa) is an interdisciplinary artist who uses archival research, photographs and video footage to explore the complexity of postcolonial histories in the Pacific and question Western misinterpretations from the perspective of the Fa'afafine (Sāmoan for "in the manner of a woman," Sāmoas third gender) community to which she belongs. In 2022 she represented New Zealand at the 59th Venice Biennale.
