Roberto Matta (b. 1911, Santiago de Chile; d. 2002, Civitavecchia, Italy) was a painter, draughtsman and architect. He is considered one of the most visionary painters of the 20th century, influenced abstract realism and surrealism and influenced artists such as Arshile Gorky, Jackson Pollock, Dorothea Tanning and Robert Motherwell.
He is the father of Gordon Matta-Clark.
