Monica Bonvicini (b. 1965, Venice / Italy) lives and works in Berlin. She combines sculptural elements, video projections and architectural interventions to investigate the interplay of space, power relations and gender roles. She has participated in the São Paulo, Istanbul, Berlin and Venice Biennials, among others, where she received the Golden Lion in 1999. In 2020 she was awarded the prestigious Oskar Kokoschka Prize. Monica Bonvicini studied at the Universität der Künste Berlin and at Cal Arts, Valencia, CA and is a Professor for Performative Arts and Sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
