Keith Haring (b. 1958, Reading, PA, USA; d. 1990, New York) was a painter, draftsman, sculptor, social activist and one of the key artists of the 1980s. With his graffiti-like images he turned against capitalist excess and was committed to nuclear disarmament, environmental protection and equal rights. He died at the age of 31 as a result of AIDS.
