short biography

Doris Salcedo (b. 1958, Bogotá / Colombia), based in Bogotá, is one of the world’s leading sculptors, who uses materials of daily use and also organic materials like grass, silk, soil, or rose petals to create works which deal with political violence, reminding of unvoiced victims in an impressive way. In 2019 she was awarded the Nomura Art Award, endowed with 1 million US dollars. Doris Salcedo studied at the New York University, and at the University of Bogota.
