Artemisia Gentileschi (Artemisia Lomi Gentileschi, b. 1593, Rome, d. 1652, Naples) was an important Baroque artist, portraying portraits and dramatic naturalistic scenes. In 1616 she became the first woman to be admitted to the Florentine Academy of Fine Arts.
