Vom Klang der Kunst. TONSPUR_expanded

Klang ist heute selbstverständlicher Bestandteil, oft gar autonomes Material in den verschiedenen Spielfeldern der Bildenden Kunst. Er hat alle Bereiche (bild)künstlerischer Ausdrucksweisen und Produktionen erfaßt und erfreut sich stetig wachsender Akzeptanz bei Publikum und Kritik. Aus der zeitgenössischen Kunst sind Arbeiten mit Klang inzwischen genau so wenig wegzudenken wie die Malerei, von derem Ende man ja noch vor einigen Jahren sprach. Ein aktuelles Zitat des bedeutenden österreichischen Künstlers, Kurators und Theoretikers Peter Weibel lautet: »Klangkunst ist eine der wichtigsten Strömungen der Kunst des 20. Jahrhunderts geworden«. Die Ausstellung »Vom Klang der Kunst« bietet anhand der Arbeiten von fünfzehn internationalen Künstlerinnen und Künstlern, einen Einblick in das vielfältige Spektrum künstlerischer Nutzung und Gestaltung von Klang.

English Version Sound is today a natural element, oftentimes an autonomous material in the various fields of contemporary fine art. It encompasses all domains of (visual)-artistic style and production and enjoys continuously growing acceptance by audience and critics. These days, one can no more imagine the field of contemporary art without works with sound than one can imagine it without painting (whose demise people were talking about a couple of years ago). A recent statement from the prominent Austrian artist, curator and theorist Peter Weibel reads as follows: »Sound art has become one of the most important currents in the art of the 20th century.« With works by 15 international artists, the exhibition »The Sound of Art« offers a look into the multifaceted spectrum of the artistic shaping and use of sound.
