press release

Freund Fellow Sarah Oppenheimer (American, born 1972) is engaged in studies involving the reconfiguration of the built environment. In past work, she has explored the social navigation of architectural surroundings, as demonstrated in a recent project exploring subway commuters' newspaper folding habits. Oppenheimer will develop the content of Currents 102 during a month-long St. Louis residency in the fall of 2007. Generous support for Currents 102: Sarah Oppenheimer is provided by the Henry L. and Natalie E. Freund Endowment Fund, established to support the exhibition and acquisition of contemporary art at the Saint Louis Art Museum and the teaching principles of contemporary art in the Sam Fox School of Visual Arts & Design at Washington University. The Museum's Currents series features the works of contemporary artists. Curated by Robin Clark, the Museum's former associate curator of contemporary art, Currents 102: Sarah Oppenheimer will be on view in Gallery 337.
