press release

Galería Pepe Cobo is pleased to present Desajustes: a project centred on contrasting visual perception, arranged in two different spaces.

On the one hand, one or several windows are placed on the walls of the room at different heights. The artificiality of the house fragments, blocks or cubes, alter the scale and brings the viewer back to the position of voyeur. The strips of cloth that connect one window to another, intertwine like experiences among people, their identities or memory, creating a net between them. Isolation or search for identities.

Walking towards the other space, we will find ourselves in the interior of a room with a window, through which we will be seeing from outside another interior. Here, the borders between reality and illusion dissolve, through a labyrinth in which both sensations become confused: a real space, a mental space, or simply the void. Open out windows onto the subconscious, that in certain moments return the viewer. Secrets, things you fear or are afraid of. Hollow spaces, desolate, thresholds that display a certain preoccupation for the void and that remind us of moments of absolute solitude.

The world shows itself simultaneously chaotic and ordered. Confusion and strangeness, interest in the unknown, the obscure and the unconscious, containment, the self’s splitting and the reflection on oneself, become part of the project.
