The next edition of ARTE LISBOA - Contemporary Art Fair, organised by AIP/FIL, will be opening its doors on 24 November at FIL Pavilion 4 in Parque das Nações, Lisbon.
The 7,000 square metres of ARTE LISBOA 2005 will house galleries and works by the artists that they represent. One of the organisers' goals is to raise the quality of the fair and make it one of the most important events in Portuguese and Iberian contemporary art.
Portugal's only contemporary art fair has been held for five years now and is now beginning a new cycle with some very important new features.
For the first time, the event will be opened with the high patronage of the President of Portugal.
At the same time, the year 2005 marks the renewal and enlargement of the organisational structure at ARTE LISBOA, which will consist of a number of members and representatives of public and private bodies. The aim is to reassert and raise the quality and visibility of the event with gallery owners, artists, collectors, critics and other players in the art world, contemporary art lovers and the general public.
