Laurie Anderson (b.1947, Chicago), based in New York, combines performances, electronic music compositions, video, theater, poetry and makes important multimedia art shows. She worked with sculptors, painters, musicians, like William S. Burroughs, Philip Glass, Frank Zappa, Timothy Leary, Malcolm Goldstein, John Cage, Allen Ginsberg, John Giorno, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Arto Lindsay, Hsin-Chien Huang, Trisha Brown, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Brian Eno. Laurie Anderson started studying classical violin at the age of five. She studied Art History at the Barnard College in New York, and Fine Arts at the Columbia University.
