La Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain invite Agnès Varda à présenter L’ÎLE ET ELLE, une exposition entre mélancolie et bonne humeur qui réunit ses toutes dernières installations et vidéos inspirées par l’Île de Noirmoutier. Elle y propose un parcours plein de surprises, au rythme des marées de l’île.

Cinéaste depuis 1954, Agnès Varda est notamment la réalisatrice de Cléo de 5 à 7 (1961), Sans toit ni loi (1985), Jacquot de Nantes (1990), Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse (2000). Depuis 2003 avec Patatutopia, triple vidéo présentée à la Biennale de Venise, elle remet en jeu sa pratique de cinéaste dans de nouveaux dispositifs.

The Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain has invited Agnès Varda to present L’ÎLE ET ELLE, an exhibition between melancholy and good humor that brings together her latest installations and videos inspired by Noirmoutier Island. Full of surprises, it offers a visit in tune to the rhythm of the island’s tides.

Active as a filmmaker since 1954, Agnès Varda is best known for directing Cléo de 5 à 7 (“Cleo from 5 to 7”), 1961; Sans toit ni loi (“Vagabond”), 1985; Jacquot de Nantes (“Jacquot”), 1990; and Les Glaneurs et la Glaneuse (“The Gleaners and I”), 2000. Since her triple-screen contribution to the 2003 Venice Biennale, entitled Patatutopia, she has been putting her filmmaking practices into question with new configurations.
